Victoria Chin, OD, FAAO

Dr. Victoria Chin McCaffety

Dr. Victoria Chin is a board certified therapeutic optometrist and glaucoma specialist that focuses on ocular surface disease (e.g. dry eye disease) and refractive surgery (LASIK, cataract surgery, ICL’s). She also manages and treats ocular pathology and provides comprehensive primary eye care for adult and geriatric patients.

Growing up in the business, eye care is a family affair for Dr. Chin. Her father and brother, Doctors Allen Chin Sr. and Allen Chin Jr. work together in private practice in Houston. Her sister-in-law, Dr. Emily Wang is also a practicing optometrist in Houston. Dr. Victoria Chin continues the family tradition at the Mann Eye Institute.

At Mann Eye Institute, Dr. Chin helped launch the Ocular Surface Treatment Center. She continues to be one of the most experienced physicians in treating ocular surface disease in the state. She also helped implement the LipiFlow system at the largest LASIK clinic in the world, the Shenagawa clinic in Tokyo, Japan. She has lectured at an international and national level on ocular surface disease.

Dr. Chin graduated with honors from the University of Texas at Austin in May 2000 with a Bachelors of Arts in Biology. She earned her Doctorate of Optometry from the State University of New York College of Optometry in May 2005. She concurrently obtained a Master of Business Administration in Health Care Administration from the Zicklin School of Business/Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York in June 2005. During her studies, Dr. Chin completed an externship at the West Haven Veterans Administration Hospital alongside Yale medical school’s ophthalmology residents. Dr. Chin also received the prestigious Feldman Award for her business thesis work studying a large inter-disciplinary academic eye care clinic in Manhattan.

In 2006, Dr. Chin completed a residency program in geriatric primary care optometry at the Sepulveda Veterans Administration Hospital in greater Los Angeles, CA through the Southern California College of Optometry. There she received her ACMO for advanced competence in medical optometry at the VA Hospital.

Dr. Chin is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry. Outside of work Dr. Chin enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.
